Machir Bay, Islay

After a recent visit to the wonderful island of Islay, I created this wee postcard. We had a nice visit to Machir Bay near Kilchoman on the island. I used Photoshop for iPhone to edit the photo, then I added some bits of text and graphics in Freeform. All done on my phone.

New Mug Design

Yesterday I was working on a mug mock-up design for a client of mine. This is the visual I have prepared. The logo is a picture of a globe with some leaves appearing to grow out of it. My client, Stephen Kenaghan Services is very happy with my designs.

WAUR! by Duns Players

This week, I am working on a poster for a show by Duns Players called WAUR! The dramatical show tells the story of war in Berwickshire through the ages. The design has yet to be finalised, but I'm pretty confident, they will like it. The image of the warrior is AI generated which I bought from Adobe Stock. The swords are also from a stock image. The poster will be printed and used online to promote the show in November. QR code is yet to be added to the design.

Duns Community Newsletter, cover design update

I recently updated the cover design of the Duns Community Newsletter. A Heart for Duns wanted to use a new image instead of the Merkat Cross, so we went with the image of Wojtek the bear, another Duns landmark. My client was very pleased with the design.

I've started doing painting work

Today, I designed this flyer to promote my painting work. Perhaps it is because of AI, or maybe reduced client marketing budgets, but my graphic design work has declined in the past two years, so last year, I thought it's time to diversify my income. I don't like the expression "side hustle" but I guess that is what my design work has become. I am now spending more time doing painting work than graphic design work.

Lighthouse at Port Charlotte, Islay

I recently designed another wee postcard, as a souvenir from my trip to Islay. We enjoyed a good walk at Port Charlotte that day, although there was no footpath on the hillside behind the village and it was very boggy in some places. I took this photo with my iPhone and added the text in Freeform.

Standing Stones of Islay

I created this wee postcard of some of the standing stones I visited on my recent trip to Islay. I made it using Photoshop on my iPhone and added the text with Freeform. It is just a simple design, but quite effective.
